Please see photos from the event here.
HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE SPRING SERIES
A special HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE series will launch in December 2016, focusing on “Shunga” which is a genre of Ukiyo-e artwork which achieved popularity as a form of entertainment during the Edo Period in Japan. Everywhere in the world, since the dawn of time, there have been many art works dealing with lust and passion between sexes. The art of Shunga is no exception and is infinitely familiar to art enthusiasts across the globe. It is this dynamism of life, driven by a sense of humor and the power of everyday eroticism, that ordinary people of the time embodied - in addition to their intelligent and urbane way of living - which HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE recognizes in Shunga that led to the development of this special series.

NY Textile Month at tribeca ISSEY MIYAKE
This September, tribeca ISSEY MIYAKE will celebrate Lidewij Edelkoort’s New York Textile Month with special installations featuring our innovative fabric technologies.
On Display Sept 6-26
tribeca ISSEY MIYAKE is always a place in which to experience the thrill of new discoveries and the process of making clothes, always unexpected. During the month of September, the store will feature special “3D Steam Stretch” installations. This is an innovative textile technology developed by ISSEY MIYAKE, born from the tradition of PLEATS and A-POC. It starts with a single piece of cloth into which “creases” have been incorporated using heat-reactive thread, and a finely detailed design process. By the simple application of steam to the cloth, the fabric that is at first flat instantly transforms to take on a 3D form with countless surfaces, following the contours of the designed creases.
TASCHEN Releases New ISSEY MIYAKE Book
On May 12, 2016, the flagship tribeca ISSEY MIYAKE boutique was proud to host the US launch of TASCHEN's new ISSEY MIYAKE collector's edition book.
The ultimate Issey Miyake monograph
In 1983, Japanese designer Issey Miyake told The New Yorker that he aspired “to forge ahead, to break the mold”. With the boundary-defying fashion lines that followed, he not only broke molds, but recast clothing altogether. This TASCHEN Collector’s Edition, initiated and conceived by Midori Kitamura, coincides with a major exhibition at The National Art Center, Tokyo to offer an expert history of Issey Miyake design. Presented in an original MIYAKE-designed book bag, the book traces Miyake’s texture-driven originality from the earliest days of his career, when he first expressed his commitment to clothing as a field for enduring design rather than changing fashions. Through clothes based on A Piece of Cloth concept, Body Series of the 1980s, Miyake Pleats series, and such practical, every-day designs as Pleats Please pieces, Kitamura draws on more than 40 years of collaborative work with Miyake to create an encyclopedic reference of his material and technical innovations.

IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE
2016 Special Artist Series by Ikko Tanaka - the renowned graphic designer who had a major impact on the history of design around the world. Ikko Tanaka and Issey Miyake met in the 1960s and maintained a deep connection and enduring friendship. It is with respect to Tanaka’s works and a gratitude to subsequent ideas that led to the birth of this series. Three works out of Tanaka’s many masterpieces were selected as motifs: Nihon Buyo (1981), The 200th anniversary of Sharaku (1995), and Variations of Bold Symbols (1992). Existing examples of the original works were considered, and their size and colors were faithfully replicated in the production of this series. But the objective was not to use these works simply as motifs; rather, that vibrant clothing full of energy should be created to intensify the vision of Tanaka’s work by the wearing a three-dimensional format. Thus, the movement of the wearer breathes new life into the graphics presented in the form of the original works without cutting or trimming.

PLEATS PLEASE ANIMALS
PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE introduces the new visual series ‘ANIMALS,’ following the 20th anniversary visual series, which has received accolades such as the gold prize in the design category at the 92nd New York Art Directors Club awards, and last year’s PLEATS PLEASE "FLOWERS." The new series features a richly expressive range of animals including pandas, cats, horses and other animals created from unique PLEATS PLEASE fabric.
PLEATS PLEASE is considered a fabric with unlimited potential. Following on from last year’s FLOWERS series, this year’s series features another group we humans share our planet with: animals. This new series encapsulates our concerns for the ecosystem of animals and the environment in general. What is more, the ANIMALS series expresses our desire to craft items that are not necessarily rooted in logic, but rather, simply delightful, like the first time you discovered PLEATS PLEASE.

February 26th, 2015 - Tribeca ISSEY MIYAKE launches - CITY BLOSSOM
Introducing the newest edition of ISSEY MIYAKE L'Eau d'Issey - The signature new spring fragrance City Blossom is life in bloom.
When winter is drawing away and spring approaching, nature reasserts itself, even in the city.
In order to underline the poetry and fleeting beauty of this new fragrance, and to ensure that the subtlety of this ode to spring is visual as well as aromatic, Issey Miyake invited a young French visual street artist, Mademoiselle Maurice, to produce an ephemeral work that would represent joy and poetry. Through her interpretation of the L’Eau d'Issey advertising campaign, the iconic bottle and its box, the visual identity of City Blossom was born, the same way a chrysalis that has become a butterfly prepares itself to swirl around in the lights and tumult of the city...
Falsely vulnerable. Truly desirable. Totally evasive.
To launch the limited-edition fragrance, Mademoiselle Maurice has created live artist installations in ISSEY MIYAKE boutiques in London, Paris, Tokyo... now NYC.

ISSEY MIYAKE and ARTEMIDE Introduce IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE
May 17th, 2013
On May 17th, ISSEY MIYAKE and ARTEMIDE celebrated the launch of IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE, "A Sculpture of Shadow and Light." IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE was born from a collaboration with Artemide, marrying their lighting expertise with the Reality Lab.'s innovative approach to material and design. The lamps, made out of recycled PET bottles, are unique in that they fold and stand without the use of structural support. The unique forms of the lamps were inspired by the 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE collection, which uses a mathematical algorithm to transform recycled materials into meticulously-crafted pieces of work. As the Reality Lab. team explored 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE'S potential in areas beyond clothing, they realized there was a natural extension of the process to be found in lighting products.
